The volcanic ash has certainly had a Global impact, leaving thousands of people stranded, unable to find a route home.
However, this weekend CFS drivers were able to come to the rescue of two teachers from Scotland, returning from China and stranded at Schiphol airport, NL.
During its history CFS has carried all types of UK Freight and European shipments and on this occasion was only too pleased to come to the rescue of Daniel and Melody Auldjo.
Having heard their story, our driver Les Phelps checked in with our European Transport department to see if he could have permission to help, by offering a lift back to the UK. Mindful of the immigration and insurance regulations and once the necessary checks were done, we were more than happy to oblige.
So, over to the CFS Rescue team to make it happen! CFS driver Les contacted driver Jim Netthal, whom transported the couple from Schiphol to Calais, where they made a quick change over to Steve Prior. Steve then brought them through to CFS HQ in Guildford Surrey and further, gave them a lift as far as Birmingham, in his own car! The couple then caught a train from Birmingham to Edinburgh to bring to a close their epic journey home and all in time for school on Monday morning…..

Daniel and Melody sent a wonderful email, thanking the drivers involved saying “We still cannot believe how helpful everyone was. We will never forget the generosity shown by all involved and would like once more to say a heartfelt thanks to all involved in getting us home.”
We would also like to say well done to all the CFS boys involved – not only are you true ambassadors of Cranleigh Freight Services – now you can add “part time rescue heroes” to your CV’s!!
