CFS Increases recycling capacity

As part of a planned implementation of environmentally friendly initiatives in 2008, Cranleigh Freight Services Ltd has invested in two new balers for plastic and cardboard.

Becky Young, Sales and Marketing Manager, explains “ plastic and cardboard accounts for approx 80% of the waste the company produces - originating mainly from the home delivery operation (DHD – Direct Home Delivery) which unpacks and removes the packaging as part of its home delivery service”.

The cardboard baler produces 500 kilo mill size bales whilst the plastic baler produces approximately 300 kilo bales, which are all sent for recycling. “I am extremely pleased as this has reduced the need for conventional waste disposal and the bales are sent for recycling, which makes both CFS & DHD more sustainable operations, which is important in reducing the impact on the environment”.
