Following on from recent Budget and relentless rise in base prices, Cranleigh Freight Services Ltd is to put into place their own “sliding scale” structure of fuel surcharge which reflects an in-depth study and analysis of deliveries carries out by CFS during 2007.
“The price of fuel has risen by over 20% since Jan 2007 and we needed to find an of the open and transparent method of applying a fuel surcharge, that fairly represented the true extra cost of delivery, whether it be a pallet, full load or furniture delivery. Clients need to be confident that we can fully justify the level of fuel surcharge levied and that it represents a true increase in cost”
Under its new fuel surcharge formula, CFS has issued all clients with new freight rates as of 1st Jan 2008, inclusive of a set fuel base rate. Fuel will be monitored monthly and the base rate re-set for the following month. For every 1p per litre increase in the base rate, CFS will apply a surcharge of 0.15% to the freight charges, equally should the base rate go down the surcharge will be reduced. Customers will be able to monitor the base rate and applicable surcharge via the CFS website www.cranleigh.co.uk
