A new trailer design has been created by German vehicle manufacturer Goldhofer that could help to improve fuel efficiency and ease of use for UK freight operators.

The vehicle features a remote-control steering system, removable power-toe ramps for long loads and a built-in floodlighting system for easier loading and off-road driving, all designed to make the day-to-day activities of drivers that much easier.

WMB's transport manager Jon Smail commented: "The technical excellence behind this trailer's design gives us a distinct advantage over other specialist hauliers."

Smart Planet recently reported that Airflow Truck Company in the US has unveiled a new design of big rig that could dramatically improve fuel efficiency for UK freight services providers if put into use.

The new 'Supertruck' is currently under construction, but the manufacturer claims the chassis of the vehicle has been designed in such a way to reduce aerodynamic drag by as much as 63 per cent over regular lorries.
