Olympic Working Group to meet next month

The first meeting of the Olympic Working Group is set to take place in London next month in what could be interesting news for UK freight operators

A host of organisations will be in attendance at the event that is being put on by Transport for London, with the Road Haulage Association (RHA), Freight Transport Association and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Road Transport reports.

It is to be held in the capital on September 8th and will comprise of 30 chief executives from operators and associations large and small across the country, who will discuss the impact on UK freight for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Meanwhile, RHA director of policy Jack Semple recently argued that the Olympic Games are likely to push up the costs for UK deliveries duration the duration of the event.

He commented: "Businesses in London should be aware that congestion is likely to impact on goods moving out of the capital, as well as in-bound deliveries."
